It is understood from the National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Centre (NATESC), MOA, that because of the frequent rainfalls and moderate temperatures lately in northeastern and northern China, 3rd generation armyworm pest has been serious in Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin and Shanxi. The magnitude and density of this year is very high, which is rare in the past decade, threatening the food security of corn, wheat and paddy rice. Preliminary estimates show that over 30 million mu of farmland will be affected throughout the country.
